Comments placed by customer in Angie's List®:
  • Description of Work: They replaced 13 year old pseudo-skylights (actually thermopane glass) with real Velux skylights in our first floor dining room china cabinet. The job required a great deal of custom work and creativity for placement and installation. Prior to finding Swistun on Angie's List, I had dealt with 22 separate vendors, each of whom was eager to look at the work. However, not one of them was imaginative enough to solve the installation problem and get me the skylight(s) I needed. Casey Swistun was able to get a custom size skylight from Velux (THE name in skylight vendors); no other vendor was even willing to try!
  • Member Comments: The Swistun crew of 3 men was polite, very helpful, and efficient. Casey Swistun was careful to call for appointments and to work around our travel schedule, although it mean considerable trouble in scheduling for him. I was particularly pleased with Casey's volunteering to aluminum clad the interior wood surfaces, as well as to prime (paint) several interior surfaces. None of this was in our agreement. These two items saved me considerable effort and mean that I can use the cabinet immediately. After the window was opened, it was clear that a different kind of flashing was needed. Casey made a trip to Aurora (about 30 miles from Northfield) to get the RIGHT material. A VERY complicated job was done completely in a single day, as promised. I could not be more pleased. Conveniently, the night of the installation, we had severe thunderstorms and the skylights held and not a drop of water leaked!
